Shirley Murdoch is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho and a National Board Certified Counselor. She has 26 years of experience in the counseling field. She received her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Eastern Washington University. Her post graduate studies included extensive work in Transactional Analysis, guided imagery & relaxation, Jungian Dreamwork, Gendlin's Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and EMDR. Shirley has worked primarily in private practice. However, she has also worked in treatment centers, a medical practice and a hospital. She taught at Lewis and Clark State College and Spokane Falls Community College for eleven years. Shirley works with clients to achieve their goals using a multi-dimensional therapy model to care for their mental, emotional, physical, behavioral and spiritual needs. She enjoys working with adults, adolescents, couples and groups. Shirley has been described as a "down-to-earth therapist with a practical approach." Clients report that they value the safe space and welcoming environment that she creates for them. She has lived in Coeur d'Alene for over 35 years. Shirley is grateful to have a close-knit family, all of whom live nearby. She is an advid, although mediocre, quilter. She is appreciative of her Golden Retrievers, who have the patience to allow her to dabble in dog training.
